Shoe lace sizes are a fabulously variable item - the length of a lace is pretty much absolute whereas the length required is infinite! Things to consider when measuring your shoe lace are how far apart the eyelets are and indeed your preferred lacing pattern and how much lace you like to have for tying off.
If you have a whole existing shoe lace then measure it. If you don't have a complete existing shoe lace then get some thread or a piece of string and thread it through (not forgetting to have sufficient to tie off). When happy with the length then cut off the surplus take it out of the shoe and measure it.
There are many different methods and patterns in which a shoe lace can be threaded and these do effect the length of the shoe lace required.
The below information is only a rough guide and will vary from shoe to shoe or boot to boot!

I purchased these laces specifically to add another level of protection for fire-fighting PPE. These were specifically for my wildfire/forestry fire boots, and in the current weather conditions they have been put to the test numerous times so far... the lace length (150cm) is perfect for my style of boot, still enough length to tie but without access hanging down. The laces do not go thin when pulled tight which eliminates 'the cutting in' effect on the boots and ultimately your feet in them. When tied up the knot does not slip and holds fast which eliminates that issue of constantly tieing your boots or having to 'tuck in' so removal of the boots remains quick and easy. Lacing up is quick as the lace ends are solid and manufactured well. I de-lace my particular boots when a clean and polish protection is required (see photo 😎) with no wear marks from eyelets are evident on these laces which wash up well when just using water. My laces are not under constant spark / flame or heat but are subject to hot ash, sparks, airborne hot embers and constant movement and undertake their role very well so far. It is evident they have been subject to flame/burning material at some point but this has not compromised the lace integrity or ability. The price is great for what you get... 10/10
